The following provides a summary of access status for major roads across Queensland for both general travel and heavy vehicle industry travel. These are available as a downloadable file in a portable document format (PDF) and are time and date stamped. To improve and maintain the connectivity of the road network across Queensland, a number of heavy vehicle and freight restrictions are in place and are available from the Heavy Vehicle Industry Road Report.

• BLACKSTONE - CUNNINGHAM HIGHWAY 08:16 PM 22/02/2012
  

  Due to emergency works the Cunningham Hwy will be closed nightly from 6:00pm to 5:00am to all westbound at Redbank Plains Rd from Wednesday 22nd to Friday 24th February. All vehicles are advised to detour via the Centenary Hwy.

• CHUWAR - MOUNT CROSBY ROAD (MOUNT CROSBY ROAD SERVICE ROAD) 03:17 PM 03/02/2012
  

  Mount Crosby Road is now open to traffic at College's Crossing. Motorists are advised that a 20 tonne limit applies to all vehicles.

  There is currently a speed reduction in place on Allawah Road to 20 kilometres per hour. Traffic control is in place. Motorists are advised to proceed with caution at the Weir Crossing.

The maps are provided as a visual representation of road closures currently affecting the road network at an individual regional level.

 

Maps are updated at approximately 11:00am each day Monday to Friday. Please note maps are only provided for regions with active road closures due to wet weather and flooding, if a region does not have any active road closures there will be no map provided.

 

The flood maps now display five colours in use that represent conditions of affected roads. A legend is now available at the top of each map. The colours being:

  Stage 1 construction works are being undertaken at the intersection of Mt Cotton and Alperton Roads at Burbank, as part of the Redlands Corridor Program. Works commenced 14 November and are expected to be completed in late 2012, weather permitting. Works will be carried out from 7am to 5pm Monday to Saturday.   The Department of Transport and Main Roads is undertaking safety improvement works on Mount Cotton Road and Duncan Road between Avalon Road and Taylor Road at Sheldon.
  Works will commence early December 2011 and will be completed by mid-February 2012, weather permitting. Works will be carried out from 7am to 5pm, Monday to Friday.

• FOREST LAKE - LOGAN MOTORWAY 04:00 PM 13/02/2012
  

  Construction work sites are being established in and around the Logan Motorway until March 2012, and remain in place until mid-2013.
  As part of these works there will be changed traffic conditions on sections of the Logan motorway Interchange including:
  reduced speed limits
  intermittent minor traffic delays between 7 am and 5pm weekdays
  partial lane closures during off peak periods.
  intermittent night works between 8pm and 5am.
  Variable message signs will be in place. Please take care and observe all signage when driving through the area.
  Works include:
  establishing entry access points to work sites
  installing temporary traffic barriers
  temporary road widening and line marking
  temporarily relocating guard rails.

• KELVIN GROVE - INNER CITY BYPASS (HALE STREET) 11:19 AM 20/01/2012
  

  From Tuesday 17 January until late March 2012, service relocation works will be undertaken on the Inner City Bypass (ICB) and Ithaca Street at Kelvin Grove.
  
  Sewerage and water mains are currently located underneath the eastbound lanes of the ICB and need to be relocated to allow for the continued construction of Brisbane City Council's legacy way tunnel project.
  
  For safety reasons and to minimize impacts on roads users, these service relocations will require single lane closures overnight on both the eastbound and westbound ICB lanes from 17 January until late March.
  
  A single westbound lane closure on the ICB and a full closure of Ithaca Street will be in place from 8pm Friday to 5am Monday each weekend during this period, with works to be carried out 24 hours a day. During the week, Ithaca street will be reduced to one lane both during the day and night.
  
  Signage and traffic control will be in place to direct motorists around the works as required. A detour will be signed during the full closure of Ithaca Street to direct motorists to take the Caxton street exit, turn on to Caxton street and then left again on to Petrie Terrace.
  
  Background:
  
  Legacy Way is Brisbane City Council’s 4.6km road tunnel that will connect to Western Freeway at Toowong with the ICB at Kelvin Grove. It will provide an alternative route to local roads for traffic leaving the Western freeway and travelling to and from the ICB.
  
  When it opens, Legacy Way will reduce, by up to 44% the peak hour travel time of journeys from the Centenary Bridge to the ICB.

• KELVIN GROVE - INNER CITY BYPASS (HALE STREET) 06:00 AM 09/12/2011
  

  In mid-December 2011, the Inner City Bypass (ICB) will be reduced to two lanes of traffic eastbound, between Victoria Park Road and the Inner Northern Busway.
  
  Concrete barriers, screening and traffic signage will be in place for the safety of motorists and construction workers. The speed limit in this area will be reduced to 60km/h.
  
  The Victoria Park Road exit and entry from the ICB will also change, with the relocated Victoria Park Road open to all vehicles.
  
  A roundabout will be created on the new Victoria Park Road for the safety of all vehicles.
  
  These traffic changes are required to allow for the continued construction of Brisbane City Council’s Legacy Way tunnel project.
  
  Background:

• RICHLANDS - CENTENARY HIGHWAY 11:54 PM 19/01/2012
  

  Cycle access closure: Centenary Highway between Garden Road, Richlands and Springfield Parkway, Springfield Lakes 23 January to late 2012.
  
  To ensure the safety of cyclists during construction of the Darra to Springfield Transport Corridor Stage 2 Richlands to Springfield Project, cycle access will be temporarily closed along the Centenary Highway between Garden Road, Richlands and Springfield Parkway, Springfield Lakes.
  
  This closure will take effect from Monday 23 January 2012 and will stay in place until late 2012.
  
  An alternative route has been identified via Clendon Street, Waterford Road, Boundary Road, Addison Road, Old Logan Road, Nev Smith Drive, Sprinfield Link Bridge, Ellen Circuit, James Josey Avenue, Lakeside Avenue to Springfield Lakes Boulevard. The project team apologises for any inconvenience this closure may cause cyclists.
  
  At project completion, cyclists will have access to more than 7km of new pathways connecting Springfield to the Brisbane cycle network. This will include a 4.2km dedicated cycle path and 2.9km of shared pedestrian and cycles paths.
  
  These works are part of the Queensland Government's Richlands to Springfield project which will improve public transport options between Springfield and Brisbane.

• RIPLEY - CUNNINGHAM HIGHWAY ON RAMP (CUNNINGHAM HIGHWAY) 05:58 PM 17/02/2012
  

  Due to emergency works, the Cunningham Highway will be closed to all westbound traffic at Redbank Plains Road from Wednesday 22nd to Friday 24th of February, works will take place nightly from 6.00pm to 5.00am.
  All westbound traffic will be detoured via the Centenary Highway to Yomanto.
  
  

• TOOWONG - WESTERN FREEWAY ON RAMP (MOUNT COOT THA ROAD ON RAMP) 12:00 PM 31/03/2011
  

  Construction of Legacy Way (formerly Northern Link) has commenced at the western work site, on the northern side of the Western Motorway in Toowong. Legacy Way is a 4.6km underground toll road that will connect the Western Motorway, at Toowong, with the Inner City Bypass, at Kelvin Grove.
  Construction of Legacy Way is expected to be complete by late 2014.

• COAL CREEK - ESK KILCOY ROAD 12:58 PM 20/01/2012
  

  Drainage work on Esk Kilcoy Rd near Coal Creek Rd started on 16 January 2012 and there is a single lane closure required under stop-go traffic control during work hours (7am - 5pm). This lane closure is required for the safety of roadworkers and road users. The road will return to two-lane traffic with a reduced speed limit outside work hours. It is expected that this work will be completed by late February 2012, weather permitting.

  The Department of Transport and Main Roads would like to advise that the D’Aguilar Highway through the Blackbutt Range will remain operating as a single lane under traffic control. The department had intended opening the Blackbutt Range to two lanes by Christmas. With recent wet weather, the program of works has been delayed and the highway cannot be safely opened to two lanes. The highway will remain operating as a single lane under 24-hour traffic control, with a 3-metre width limit. Westbound traffic can move through on the hour and every half hour. Eastbound traffic can move through at quarter past and quarter to the hour.
  Works on the Blackbutt Range are occurring as part of Operation Queenslander, which is the largest reconstruction effort in Queensland’s history, rebuilding communities, fixing infrastructure and restoring regional communities. The project is being delivered under the Natural Disaster Relief and Recovery Arrangements (NDRRA), a joint federal and state initiative.

  The Department of Transport and Main Roads would like to provide you with an update about reconstruction works to be undertaken on Kilcoy-Beerwah Road at Peachester Range.
  As you are aware, the flooding events of January 2011 significantly impacted on Kilcoy-Beerwah Road, which sustained landslips and pavement damage.
  The department has been working to design a solution for the reconstruction of Kilcoy-Beerwah Road that takes into account the complex geology of this area. It has now been determined that the solution will be to reconstruct the road by excavation on the uphill side.
  This moves the road alignment away from the slip zone, increasing the safety margin for motorists and construction workers, and provides opportunities to improve drainage and the road alignment.
  Work on the reconstruction of Kilcoy-Beerwah Road at Peachester Range is expected to start in late January 2012 and be completed by Easter 2012, weather permitting.
  During the reconstruction project there are not likely to be any full closures of this road. There may be some short delays where traffic will be stopped to enable plant and equipment to be moved in or out of work sites.
  The single lane closure under temporary traffic signals will remain in place for the duration of these works. This lane closure is necessary for the safety of roadworkers and road users. Variable Message Signs will be located in both directions on the range to advise motorists of changes to traffic conditions and any restrictions.
  The department appreciates the delays are an inconvenience, and I thank you for your patience and understanding while these works are undertaken. We will continue to keep the community informed as these works progress.

  • Night works will take place this Friday 17 February and Monday 20 February 2012 on the Gold Coast Highway and Terminal Drive intersection, Bilinga.
  • Motorists can expect some lane closures southbound and northbound and limited access into Terminal Drive from Gold Coast Highway with detours in place.
  • Works will take place between 8pm and 5am.
  • Roadworks will continue until mid-2012 on the Gold Coast Highway at Bilinga at Coolangatta Road and Terminal Drive.

  Gold Coast Rapid Transit, Broadbeach
  Roadwork and associated activities are occurring on both sides of the Gold Coast Highway between the intersections of Aubrey Street, Surfers Paradise and Australia Avenue, Broadbeach. The main traffic changes in this area include:
  • The intersection of Australia Avenue and the Gold Coast Highway will be closed intermittently for short periods of time on Monday 20 February 2012. Police and traffic controllers will be on site to direct motorists during these times.
  • Changed traffic conditions at the intersection of the Gold Coast Highway, Remembrance Drive and Surfers Paradise Boulevard to realign these roads in preparation for the light rail system. Traffic can travel on the Gold Coast Highway through this intersection north and south, but all turning movements have been removed with the exception of the left-hand turn from Surfers Paradise Boulevard into the highway heading south.
  • These changed conditions will continue until early to mid-2012. Motorists should expect delays during peak times and are advised to use alternative routes if possible.
  • Temporary intersection closures are continuing along the Gold Coast Highway at Second Avenue, St Kilda Avenue, Rosewood Avenue and Britannia Avenue.
  • The left-hand turn out of Armrick Avenue onto the Gold Coast Highway is temporarily closed until mid-2012. Armrick Avenue motorists will be able to access the Gold Coast Highway via Surf Parade and Australia Avenue to the south or Wharf Road to the north. The left-turn into Armrick Avenue from the Gold Coast Highway will remain open.
  • Night work will occur on the Gold Coast Highway between Surfers Paradise Boulevard, Surfers Paradise and Australia Avenue, Broadbeach, between 6.30pm and 6.30am, Sunday to Thursday nights inclusive. In some sections of the work zone, the Gold Coast Highway will be reduced to one lane of traffic in each direction with the speed limit reduced to 40km/h.

  Cunningham Highway - Cunningham's Gap.
  Work is underway at Cunningham’s Gap on the Cunningham Highway.
  
  Motorists can expect delays while final asphalt repairs and resurfacing through the Gap is underway. This work will be carried out under daytime stop/go traffic conditions (maximum 500 m at a time).
  
  This work is expected to be completed by the end of February 2012, weather permitting.
  
  Work is expected to commence at the most badly damaged site, Clayton’s Gully, in February 2012. As this is a new section of road, there will be minimal disruption to traffic while construction is underway. This work is expected to be completed by mid-2012, weather permitting.

  The John Muntz Causeway on Tamborine-Oxenford Road at Oxenford is open to traffic in the eastbound lane.
  
  - Traffic signals are in place to manage traffic flow. Adherence to these traffic signals is enforceable by law.
  
  - CCTV is in place to monitor traffic flow and driver behaviour.
  
  - The speed limit will be reduced to 40km/h.
  
  - Motorists should expect delays and plan accordingly.
  
  Urgent repair works have been carried out to allow the lane to open as quickly as possible after the causeway was closed following flooding of the Coomera River in late January 2012. Planning to replace the existing causeway with a bridge has been fast-tracked.

  CARDWELL RANGE REALIGNMENT UPDATE
  
  Major earthworks are continuing on the realignment of the Bruce Highway through the Cardwell Range. The speed limit through the Cardell Range is reduced to 60 km/h for the duration of the project. The Hinchinbrook Lookout will remain closed until mid - 2012.
  
  A major traffic switch is now current on the southern side of the Cardwell Range. The traffic switch involves the Bruce Highway traffic being temporarily diverted onto the new Lookout Access Road. This will enable the final cutting through the crest to be made and the pavement to be constructed. Signed detours will be in place for the duration of the project.
  
  TRAFFIC DISRUPTIONS
  
  As works progress, intermittent single lane closures on the Cardwell Range will occur. Delays of up to 15 minutes may be experienced during these closures.
  
  CLOSURE OF HIGHWAY FOR BLASTING
  
  Highway closures for blasting will occur well into 2012. Generally blasts will be conducted fortnightly on a Wednesday afternoon at 2:00pm. Occasionally due to wet weather the date of the blasts may have to be changed at short notice. Every effort will be made to notify the travelling public of any changes to the regular schedule.

  BRUCE HIGHWAY (DRYSDALE ST) - Brandon Road Reconstruction works
  
  Essential reconstruction work is continuing from south of the DAL SANTOS CULVERTS to north of the Burdekin Sewerage Treatment Plant.
  
  Due to width restrictions a wide load detour is in place for the duration of this project. Vehicles over 3.5 metres are advised they must use the wide load detour. Please check the Transport and Main Roads website for more information.
  
  Heavy transport vehicles under 3.5m, for example, semi-trailers and B-doubles, must continue to use the Bruce Highway through the project site.
  
  Works are focussing on improving the road and ensuring the road meets the national highway standard.
  
  The Bruce Highway is reduced to one lane and the speed is reduced to 40km/h. Motorists are advised to expect minor delays. Works are expected to be completed in mid-March.
  
  Work is planned to commence to reconstruct the Spiller Street intersection in March 2012. These works will focus on improving safety and access.
  
  Motorists are encouraged to slow down and drive to the conditions of the road. This will allow work crews to complete their work quickly and safely.

  Work to construct a heavy vehicle rest area is under way on the Bruce Highway (southbound) at Nulla Flats, south of the Cherwell River. The works are expected to be completed in mid-March, weather permitting. For the safety of motorists and roadworkers, a reduced speed limit will be in place for the duration of the works. At times, the highway will be reduced to one lane. Traffic controllers will assist with managing traffic flow and delays may be experienced.   The Department of Transport and Main Roads would like to advise motorists the Bruce Highway will be
  temporarily closed just south of Carlson Road (north) to Traveston Road for brief periods from
  Monday 24 October 2011. These temporary closures are to ensure the safety of motorists while low impact controlled blasting occurs adjacent to the existing highway as part of construction work for the new Traveston interchange. The blasts will occur between 12 pm and 2 pm Monday to Friday, Weather permitting.

  The removal of temporary barriers in the section along the start of the motorway northbound from University Road to the University Road overpass will occur, weather permitting. Traffic will be realigned and reduced to a speed of 40 km/h.
  
  THURSDAY 01 MARCH AND FRIDAY 02 MARCH
  Removal of the double white lines in the southbound lane of the motorway will occur. Traffic will be reduced to one lane, and the speed will be reduced to 40km/h, with traffic controllers on site.
  
  MONDAY 05 MARCH TO FRIDAY 09 MARCH
  
  Asphalting will occur along the start of the motorway from University Road to the University Road overpass. Traffic will be reduced to one lane and reduced to a speed of 40km/h. University Road will be closed from the start of the motorway and under the overpass to the Yolanda Drive/Discovery Drive roundabout. Local traffic is advised to turn off University Drive at MacArthur Drive or follow the motorway detour.

• KENNEDY HIGHWAY - RAVENSHOE, Far North, 05:30 AM 14/09/2011
  

  Road widening works are continuing on the Kennedy Hwy between Tumoulin Rd and Kidner Rd, including the Kelso Road intersection.
  
  The will include widening a 2.5km section of the highway to nine metres, and will improve safety for all road users. Works will be carried out between 6:00am and 6:00pm, Monday to Saturday and will continue until late 2011, weather permitting.
  
  Motorists can expect delays of up to 15 minutes during the works and may wish to use an alternative route. Traffic will be reduced to one lane, and traffic controllers and a 40km/s speed limit will be in place to safeguard motorists and roadworkers.
  
  There may be periods of time when access between Tumoulin Road and Kidner Road will be closed. During this time, access to local properties will be maintained, however detours will be in place for all other road users.
  
  Motorists needing to travel through this site during the works are asked to contact the department on 4050 5434.
  
  Signage will be in place at the following intersections to assist motorists with detours:
  * Kennedy Highway and Tumoulin Road

  Roadworks will be occurring along the Warrego Highway near Auchmah Road between Bowenville and Dalby.
  These works are to repair structural deficiencies in the culvert under the road.
  Work is expected to be completed by February 2012.

  Roadworks are occurring on the Warrego Highway between Drillham and Dulacca.
  The roadworks include pavement repairs, pavement rehabilitation and bitumen resurfacing.
  Work is commencing 9/01/12 to mid-June 2012, between the hours of 6am and 6pm, weather permitting.
  Refer to Excess Mass and Dimension Conditions on TMR website for further details.
  There will be single lane closures and temporary speed reductions during working hours.
  Delays of up to 10 minutes are expected.

  Roadworks are occurring along the Warrego Highway between Fairymeadow Road & the intersection of the Leichhardt Highway.
  This work involves a Seismic Survey of the road.
  Work is commencing 05/01/12 to 04/03/12 between the hours of 06:00am & 06:00pm.
  There will be reduced speed limits affecting traffic travelling in both directions.

• WARREGO HIGHWAY (MURILLA STREET) - MILES, Darling Downs, 06:00 PM 23/02/2012
  

  Roadworks will be occurring along Warrego Hwy at Miles..
  This work involved asphalt resurfacing at Dogwood Creek.
  Work is commencing on 22/02/2012 & 23/02/2012 between the hours 6:00pm to 6:00am.
  Traffic control and reduced speed limits will be in place, Motorists can expect delays.

• WARREGO HIGHWAY - MITCHELL, South West, 12:00 PM 23/02/2012
  

  Maranoa River Bridge, Mitchell
  Motorists are advised that the bridge is open to traffic. Weight restrictions have been lifted. A 40km per hour speed limit with single lane access and 24 hours a day seven days a week traffic control is in place. A 3.5m maximum width restriction is also in place.
  
  

• WARREGO HIGHWAY - OAKEY, Darling Downs, 06:00 PM 20/02/2012
  

  Roadworks are occurring along the Warrego Highway East of Oakey.
  These works include a new 1.4 km passing lane from Brimblecombes Rd to Henningsen Rd.
  Work is expected to be completed by May 2012.
  Between the hours of 6pm to 6am.
  Motorist should expect delays.
  

• WARREGO HIGHWAY - OAKEY, Darling Downs, 07:00 AM 07/03/2012
  

  Roadworks are occurring along the Warrego Highway, Oakey, between Oakey Biddeston Road & Devon Park Road.
  These works include a road surface re-seal.
  Work is commencing 07/03/12 to 15/03/12 between the hours of 07:00am & 05:00pm.
  There will be reduced speed limits, partial lane closures and traffic control will be in place.
  Moderate delays are to be expected.

• WARREGO HIGHWAY - REDWOOD, Darling Downs, 06:00 PM 14/02/2012
  

  Roadworks are occurring along the Warrego Highway on the Toowoomba Range.
  This will be affecting Eastbound traffic only.
  These works are to reinstate rock fences.
  Work is commencing 13/02/2012 to 09/03/2012 between the hours of 06.00pm & 06.00am.
  There will be reduced speed limits, partial lane closures and traffic control will be in place.
  Motorists can expect delays.

• WARREGO HIGHWAY - WARRA, Darling Downs, 11:25 AM 07/06/2011
  

  Roadworks are occurring along the Warrego Highway between Macalister and Warra.
  Work is to be completed by the end of November 2012.
  Motorists should expect delays of 10-15min in different sections of this work site. Traffic controllers and traffic lights will also be in operation throughout the term of the upgrade.
  Heavy Vehicle operators are advised there will be restricted conditions through the worksite, all operators should check with the local authority for more detail.

• WARREGO HIGHWAY EAST (WARREGO HIGHWAY) - ROMA, South West, 03:26 PM 08/11/2011
  

  Roadworks are commencing on the Warrego Highway from Jackson to Roma at various chainages. Delays of up to 20 minutes can be expected during construction. Reduced speed limits are also in place and traffic is being led by a pilot vehicle in places.

• WOOLCOCK STREET (TOWNSVILLE PORT ROAD) - CURRAJONG, Northern, 07:00 AM 07/02/2012
  

  Works to install signage will occur on Woolcock Street, Currajong, at the Atlee Street intersection from 7 February 2012 7:00am to 30 March 2012 5:00pm. Signage, speed restrictions and traffic control will be in effect for the duration of the works.

• WOOLCOCK STREET (WOOLCOCK STREET SERVICE ROAD, BRUCE HIGHWAY) - GARBUTT, Northern, 07:00 AM 09/01/2012
  

  Construction works will occur alongside Woolcock Street, Garbutt, between Langton Street and Hartley Street from 9 January 2012 7:00am to 29 February 2012 6:00pm. Signage, traffic controllers and speed restrictions will be present for the duration of the works.

• YABBA CREEK ROAD (YABBA ROAD) - IMBIL, Wide Bay/Burnett, 02:31 PM 24/01/2012
  

  The Yabba Creek No 6 bridge on Yabba Creek Road is currently load limited to 20 tonne. Transport and Main Roads is committed to a safe road network and the restricted load limit on this bridge is an interim measure to ensure safety until roadworks are completed. • YAKAPARI SEAFORTH ROAD - SEAFORTH, Mackay/Whitsunday, 08:00 AM 09/01/2012
  

  Yakapari-Seaforth Road- Roadworks are occurring on Yakapari – Seaforth Road from the bottom of the range for almost 3kms and are expected to be completed by mid 2012, weather permitting. Traffic is under single lane operation during work hours and motorists can expect minor delays.   Pavement and kerb works will occur on Young Street, Ayr, from Queens Street to Graham Street commencing 6 February 2012 6:00am and finishing 16 March 2012 5:00pm. Signage, speed restrictions and traffic controllers will be on site during this time.

• YOUNGMAN STREET (BUNYA HIGHWAY) - KINGAROY, Wide Bay/Burnett, 11:45 AM 08/11/2011
  

  Roadworks on Youngman Street (Bunya Highway) between River Road roundabout and the showgrounds in Kingaroy are expected to start this week, weather permitting. Works are expected to be completed mid 2012. Motorists may experience some delays.
